Digital Skills Café

Young people can also become digital volunteers and help older residents, creating rewarding intergenerational relationships.

Youth Skills & Leadership Programme
Weekly or fortnightly sessions for young people covering communication, confidence, teamwork, leadership, employability, CV writing, interview skills, financial literacy, digital skills, creative media, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, positive decision-making, and community responsibility.
Key Topics Covered:
Participants can step up to become Community Connect Volunteers to help run activities, welcome participants, support older residents with technology, organise community events, create social media content, collect community feedback, and help design future activities.
Community Culture & Connection Days
Monthly larger community events where residents can share food, music, cultural traditions, clothing, stories, photographs, crafts, poetry, dance, and games. The purpose is not just entertainment—the aim is to give people who may not usually interact opportunities to meet, talk, learn from one another, and form lasting relationships.
Key Topics Covered:
Cost-of-Living Community Support
A monthly Community Support & Skills Day where people can receive signposting or practical support with employment, CVs, digital access, benefits information, budgeting, local support services, food/community resources, training opportunities, volunteering, debt-support signposting, and energy-saving information. Rockhouse identifies need and refers people to appropriate specialist partner organisations where required.
Key Topics Covered:
Community Skill Exchange
Built on the principle that “Everyone has something valuable to contribute.” Older residents may teach cooking, sewing, gardening, or traditional practical crafts. Younger people may teach smartphone apps, Canva, TikTok, social media, or digital creative skills. Parents may share budgeting or cooking, tradespeople may share basic DIY, musicians can share instruments, business owners share entrepreneurship, and job seekers develop CV skills.
