Rockhouse Skill Community Interest Company (CIC)
Skills, Relationships & Opportunities for Stronger Communities
A Welcoming Hub for Learning, Sharing & Connection
Rockhouse Community Connect is a community-based programme bringing together young people, adults, parents, older people and people experiencing isolation or financial pressure. The aim is to help people learn, share skills, solve problems, build confidence and form stronger relationships.
The Realities in Our Communities
Many communities have people living alongside one another without actually knowing each other. Our project specifically responds to:
Youth Opportunities
Young people who lack positive activities, structured mentorship, and practical opportunities.
Isolation & Loneliness
Older people experiencing isolation and seeking meaningful community involvement.
Digital Inclusion
Adults and seniors struggling to navigate online public services, banking, and digital tools.
Cost-of-Living Pressures
Families and households navigating significant financial pressures needing reliable signposting.
Cross-Cultural Connection
People from diverse cultural backgrounds who live near each other but rarely interact.
Employability & Confidence
Unemployed or underemployed adults who need self-belief, CV guidance, and practical skills.
Untapped Potential
Residents who possess valuable skills and life experiences but lack a platform to share them.
The Solution: A Connected Hub
Instead of isolating these issues into separate programmes, Rockhouse Skill Community Interest Company (CIC) establishes a regular Community Connect Hub that tackles them together.
Young people tutor older residents on digital tech, while older residents share cooking, trades, and life experiences.
Monthly connection days give neighbors from diverse heritage backgrounds a natural space to converse, share food, and build trust.
Cost-of-living signposting, CV help, and skills building provided warmly without stigma or red tape.
Our Long-Term Community Vision
The aim is to create an organic, self-sustaining community network where:
Participants Become Volunteers
Those who attend drop-in sessions build confidence and step up to support their peers.
Volunteers Become Peer Mentors
Trained volunteers facilitate sessions, mentor new attendees, and share leadership.
Young People Become Community Leaders
The Young Community Leaders pathway equips youth to design activities and lead community events.
Local Businesses Become Active Partners
Employers contribute speakers, mentors, resources, and work experience opportunities.
Community Organisations Collaborate
Local charities, schools, and services cross-refer and support one another continuously.
A Recognised, Trusted Hub
Rockhouse becomes an enduring anchor where residents always know they belong.
